Hey everybody! I know, I know. Long time no hear. And that's a sin where I come from, 'specially with phone calls. People still use the phone in this day and age, right? Call me old fashioned, but...
Just got back from the theater. Had a few hours to kill before I watch my Packers beat the CRAP out of the Bears! That's right, we're makin' the PLAYOFFS baby! If there's one thing I learned back in the frat, it's that it ain't over til it's over! But I digress...
So what did I see at the movies? I tell ya, the word of the day is "TRON!" As in, "TRON fights for the users!" That's right. TRON: Legacy, baby!
What an awesome movie! True, I'm not really all that into high tech thingamabobs, but TRON has been a favorite of mine ever since I was a kid. Darn near everything about this movie is brilliant. So are the visuals! Every bit as good as say... Polar Express. The visuals, the acting, the story...just about perfect. Sure, I'd have liked to have seen Flynn's CLASSIC lightcycle get more use and I thought Bruce Boxenliter as TRON wasn't in it NEAR enough, but that's ok. Thought the music was okay, too. Nichols says it's by these guys called "Daft Punk." Whatever. I'll stick with Journey and Eric Clapton, thanks. And how about that Olivia Wilde? VA-VA-VAVOOM!
There's a deeper meaning to this movie, too. So all the snobby film critics can go shove it with their attitude about "entertainment" movies. Like the majority of Americans, I don't want to have to do any thinking when I go to see a movie. I have problems enough doing that in the concession line, trying to decide how many snacks to buy. But I digress...
The idea of C.L.U. corrupting other programs on the Grid is sorta like the devil taking people's souls away from Jesus. Don't let anybody tell you different, this movie is all about God and God's creation. And it's a wake up call. Christians of the world unite! Let's start a Jesus revival!
I've said it before and I'll keep sayin' it: Disney is the greatest film production studio out there today. And since TRON: Legacy has been such a success, Disney will no doubt live up to their axiom of "it it works once, do it to death." That means sequel after sequel, baby! CAN'T WAIT!
This movie easily earns 4.5 stars out of 5 from me.
'Til next time, peace, love, and smoked bbq,
Kip
